After over a week of soaking, the clay is old, soft, and ripping at junctions.
What a mess.
Almost want to wad the whole thing up and start all over
Shit’s just not packed as tightly as new clay would be.
I did a lot of reconstruction today. Chopped off her legs since they've become cumbersome. She needs to be built the exact same way human machine was: torso/back, appendages, then face.
After over a week of soaking, the clay is old, soft, and ripping at junctions. What a mess. Almost want to wad the whole thing up and start all over Shit’s just not packed as tightly as new clay would be. This project is taking ages!!
Officially using a bag instead of plastic sheets now. Which means no more watering down the clay each time at the start of each studio session. Enfin! What a chore.. OK. this is taking longer than expected. If I wasn't so pleased with the new results, I'd be embarrassed about posting a schedule detailing how I've fallen a month behind. Of course, circumstances have significantly cut my studio time as of late (and I'll expound on that in later posts). For now, it's back to the studio for me and back to work for you.
Labor day was good. Caught up on sleep and worked on some art. Oh, and coughs are dwindling by the hour too. Hope you haven't been pulling your hair out wondering if I was still alive :)
When I'm in the studio, I go full-on artist mode. That means the wifi is off so I don't get distracted by online drama. I've been out of data on my phone for some time now. See, that's what happens when you leave Pandora on during school and forget to connect to wifi. Unlimited minutes can't help you out there. Speaking of, I should probably switch the two. The network admins block a lot of sites—music apps included—and nobody seems to know the pw for 'Staff_MHS' so I settle for the one students use. The fifth needs to hurry up and get here soon. YES. DONE. It took me a day to make each head, but due to my busy schedule, this project has dragged out to over 4 months. Currently waiting on Nick's head (the darkest one) to bone dry. Thank God teachers get summer vacay (although no summer pay is another thing). Now I can finally focus on all the ideas that have been trying to claw their way to existence since last May.
